Jesolo, European City of Sport 2025, is ready to welcome the great international road running event on the evening of Saturday 24 May. In the half marathon, the Italian Eyob Faniel returns to Jesolo.
The race was presented this morning in online mode.
Registrations are still open for the Alì Family Run
Venice, May 19, 2025 - Huge participation success for the 14th BMW Ceccato Motors Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon &10K and for the launch edition of the Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon, all scheduled in Jesolo on the evening of Saturday, May 24, and which had to close registrations early due to the sold out of the available bibs: 3,500 in the half marathon, 2,500 in the 10K and 500 in the Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon.
The big news of this edition concerns the route of the half marathon which this year will also pass through the historic center of Jesolo, running along the Sile river and thus adding new and very suggestive views, especially at sunset, to a route already scenically rich in different naturalistic aspects such as the pine forest, the seafront and the beach.
Another important new feature is the introduction of the first Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon in the program, a test event on inline skates of about 20 km with a fun and physical nature, organized by Venicemarathon in collaboration with Rollerblade®, a leading brand in the inline skate sector that is part of the Tecnica Group, a leading company in the world of sports equipment and pride of the Veneto region. The route of the Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon will follow part of the half marathon route up to Viale Oriente/Via Bucintoro (about 16 km) where, for organizational reasons and for the safety of skaters and runners taking part in the other races, the flying finish line will be set up. The final time of each skater will be recorded at this point, while the remaining kilometers of the race to reach the area of Via Inghilterra/Piazza Milano will be faced at a controlled pace.
Finally, there will also be the traditional 3-kilometer Alì Family Run which this year will have a completely new route that will overlook the seafront. The event, which will attract many families, children, and companions, will also serve as a moment to raise awareness of the important campaign on the fight against polio promoted by Rotary District 2060 “End Polio Now”. In addition, the funds raised will also support the parish of San Giovanni Battista this year, one of the most important Caritas centers in Jesolo, committed daily to helping people in need, providing vouchers or food parcels. Registrations are still open, available on the website www.moonlighthalfmarathon.it or can be made in Piazza Milano on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 May.
TIMES - At 5 pm we start with the Alì Family Run, to continue at 6:30 pm with the start of the Jesolo Moonlight 10K, followed by the Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon at around 7:20 pm and finally the start of the 14th Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon at around 7:30 pm.
THE HEART OF THE EVENT - As always, the welcoming Piazza Milano will be the home of the colorful and lively Jesolo Moonlight Village, open to the public on Friday 23rd (from 3pm to 8pm) and Saturday 24th May (from 9am to 5:30pm). The village will be full of events, music and entertainment and will welcome the passage of all the registered participants. Piazza Milano will also be the starting and finishing point of all the races, while Parco Grifone (a few meters from the Piazza) will await all the athletes after the race for the Moonlight Party with DJ set and Pasta Party.
THE PRESENTATION - The event was officially presented this morning online, on the event's Facebook page. Below are the speeches:
Mayor Christofer De Zotti: "We are happy to host this great event once again, with a new route that crosses the historic center to support the administration's commitment to enhancing it. We have positive signals from operators and residents, confirming the importance of the event for the city that this year celebrates the title of European City of Sport recognized by ACES Europe. This event has now become a regular event in Jesolo, for many years and with different administrations, demonstrating the quality and reliability of the organization".
Sports Councilor Martina Borin: "The Moonlight Halfmarathon is a consolidated event that Jesolo considers indigenous, in fact, thanks to the ways in which it is held as well as the induced effects it generates in the area. This year the event takes on a special meaning for us as we can boast the title of European City of Sport, a baton that in some way is passed to us directly from the Veneto Region, which last year was recognized as a European Region of Sport".
The President of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva: “Today we are here to present you an event that has grown in numbers, while always respecting sustainability and organizational efficiency, but above all renewed in content with the passage of the race through the historic center of Jesolo and with the introduction one of the new Rollerblade® Moonlight Half Marathon. Two circumstances that have seen us collaborate closely and very profitably with the Municipal Administration, with the relevant offices and economic operators and, if this event is becoming more and more successful every year, it is also thanks to a territory that hosts and supports us. We are ready to offer our 6,500 runners and all the public a huge party”.
The General Coordinator of Venicemarathon Lorenzo Cortesi – "We have reached our registration limit for all the races and unfortunately we are forced to reject many other requests these days, but quality is our priority. We will have over 10% foreign athletes and over 50% from outside the region who will certainly contribute to a significant economic impact on the city and the territory. Results that are the result of an important national and international promotion campaign and targeted actions on foreign media and the main Italian sports newspapers. We are ready to liven up Piazza Milano for two whole days and for this I thank the Piazza Milano committee, its traders and all the local committees that will also help us organize refreshments along the routes.”
Vice President of Venicemarathon Stefano Fornasier "We have set up a high-level cast with the return, among others, of the Italian Eyob Faniel, already winner in 2015 and of some good-level African athletes, ready to run under the hour like the Kenyans Shadrack Kenduiywo and Dennis Kipkemboi Meli and the Eritrean winner of the 2023 edition Shumay Mogo Solomon. The Italian Alessandro Giacobazzi, Italian marathon champion in 2022, has just joined the cast. In the women's field, Arianna Lutteri from Verona, winner of this year's Italian marathon title in the Senior Master 35 category, will have to deal with the Kenyans Cynthia Jepchumba and Ruth Gitonga".
Also present were the title sponsor Michele Ceccato, Arianna Colombari of Rollerblade®, Tommaso Trolese of Rotary District 2060, the president of the Piazza Milano committee Tania Menazza and the new sponsors Roberto Milani of Longato Serramenti and Domenico Pozza of Body Evolution.
