Venice, 12 August 2020 - The 10th Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon & 10K, the international running race that was originally scheduled for last May 16 and which, as the name suggests, starts at sunset and ends with the glow of the moon, developing in a unique naturalistic context, attracting over 6,000 runners from Italy and abroad every year, has been postponed to Saturday 29 May 2021.
Venicemarathon and the Jesolo Municipal Administration worked until the end to try to re-propose the race this year, but the evolution of the health and authorization scenarios forced the organizers to consider imprudent to organize the event under current conditions.
All registrations already made will be considered valid for next year and runners will receive more detailed information shortly.
"We worked a lot and in close contact with Venicemarathon because we really wanted to give Jesolo and its guests the emotion of the Moonlight Half Marathon. We tried to schedule it in September, as a gift to the city and in coincidence with the tenth anniversary of the event. Unfortunately, the restrictions imposed on the management of COVID-19 did not allow us to do so. We do not give up and, together with Venicemarathon, we are determined to bring the half marathon in the moonlight back to Jesolo in 2021 to celebrate the restart after the difficulties of these months and warm the hearts of fans again with the moonlight race ”- commented the councilor for sport of the Municipality of Jesolo Esterina Idra.
"The possibility that the situation may further worsen in the coming weeks and the difficulty of setting up indispensable and unprecedented control and safety procedures for participants and organizers suggest to avoid risky situations. With great regret, but equally a sense of responsibility, we give an appointment to all fans on Saturday 29 May 2021, with the commitment to plan a truly special edition of our event "- these are the words of the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva.
The 35th Venicemarathon scheduled for Sunday 25 October 2020 remains on the calendar.
