The favorite athletes of the half marathon scheduled in Jesolo on the evening of Saturday 25 May arrive from Burundi and Kenya.
Tomorrow, Friday 24 May, opening of the Moonlight Village in Piazza Milano (from 3pm) and possibility to register again for the Alì Family Run.



Venice, 23 May 2024 – In just over 48 hours, the city of Jesolo will once again experience the 'Saturday evening fever' of running with the 13th edition of the BMW Ceccato Motors Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon &10K, the spectacular international running race on the road organized by Venicemarathon, in collaboration with the City of Jesolo and Jesolo Turismo, in which 6,000 athletes are expected, many of whom are foreigners mainly from Austria, France, Hungary, the United States, Great Britain, Slovakia, Spain and Poland.

In the elite race, the best accredited are the Burundian athletes Onesphore Nzikwinkunda (1h01'48" personal best) and Oliver Irabaruta (1h02'12"), while in the women's field all eyes are on last year's winner, the Kenyan Morin Gesara Michira, who will try to lower by a few hundredths the race record of 1h10'52" set by her in the 2023 edition. To worry her, there will be the Portuguese Vanessa Carvalho, fresh winner of the national half marathon championships in Braga (Por).

The big party will begin tomorrow, Friday 24 May, with the opening at 3pm of the Moonlight Village in Piazza Milano, while the official inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 25 May, at 12pm. The program on Saturday will then continue with the presentation of the 40 members of the Venicemarathon Pacing Team at 3.30 pm and with the delivery of the bibs to the top runners, scheduled for 4 pm.
We will then get to the heart of the event with the departure of the 4th Ali Family Run scheduled for 5.30 pm from Piazza Milano. Children, families and enthusiasts will let loose along the 3 kilometer route in a cheerful charity run-walk. Registrations will also be available on site, until shortly before departure. The membership fee is 5 euros and includes the official personalized Alì t-shirt which recalls, through the "End Polio Now" logo, the important awareness campaign on the fight against polio promoted by Rotary District 2060.
The funds raised by the Alì Family Run will also support the parish of San Giovanni Battista this year, one of the most important Caritas centers in Jesolo, committed daily to helping over 200 people in need, providing vouchers or shopping parcels.
The evening will then continue with the start of the 10K at 7pm and, finally, that of the 21K at 7.35pm. Piazza Milano will then welcome, to the rhythm of music, the uninterrupted succession of arrivals, welcomed as always between two wings of the crowd.

The most mature athlete in the race is Mariano Guglielmi (born in 1939) entered in the 10K recreational motor race, while in the half marathon the record goes to Paolo Barbato (born in 1941). Among the women, the most mature is Giorgia Ruggeri (born in 1947).
This year too, female participation in the race is very high. In the 10K, women registered represent 50% of the total participants, while in the 21K they represent over 30%.

Pacing Team by Venicemarathon Running Team
During the race, the athletes will be able to find psychological comfort and technical help from the 'angels of the stopwatch', i.e. the 40 Pacers coordinated by the Venicemarathon Running Team who will help the runners reach the finish line in the established time and with a smile on their faces. The task of the pacers is not limited to pacing the race pace, but also offering psychological support and the right motivation to better manage the effort. The 21K Pacers will observe the following time slots: 1h30', 1h35', 1h40', 1h45', 1h50'. 1h55', 2h, 2h15'. In the 10 km, they will cover these times: 40', 45', 50', 55', 1h and 1h10'.

Parking lots
To improve environmental sustainability, traffic and services for athletes, also for Jesolo Venicemarathon it relies on ParkForFun, setting up a large guarded car park, just 700 meters from the start and finish area and with limited places. The service can be booked on the website.

Collection of used shoes for solidarity
This year too the event will be enriched by the 'Double knot, forty 2.0' project, i.e. the collection of used running shoes (in good condition and washed before delivery) for people in need.
A gesture of solidarity for people in difficulty, which Frcould benefit from the running shoe as it is particularly comfortable and requested by them for daily use. The initiative is promoted by barefoot runner Ercole La Manna and by the 'Vegan Power Team' and 'Compagnia della Polenta' associations. Baskets for collecting shoes will be positioned inside the village and in the start/finish area.
